Who NOT To Start In Fantasy Football – Week 1

You can go just about anywhere on the World Wide Web to receive fantasy football advice for who you should start every week. ESPN, Yahoo, Better Homes and Gardens, literally anywhere! However, there is only one place on the World Wide Web where you can go to receive fantasy football advice of who you SHOULD NOT start every week. And that place is KorkedBats.com. You’re welcome.

WEEK 1

Football is back. And in a wild year like 2020, you could argue this is the most we’ve needed football since Aug-Sept of 2019. Rest easy, folks, football is here. And right now, for every fan base in America, hope springs eternal. Except for the Jaguars. And that hope also stems to your fantasy team. Maybe this is the year you take home the $100 cash prize. Maybe this is the year you go all 16 weeks without forgetting to sub out your flex position. Maybe this is the year your wife or significant other doesn’t get mad when she see the checking account withdrawl going towards paying for the aforementioned cash prize.

But why am I wasting your time with words and stuff? Let’s just get to the brass tax. Let’s talk fantasy football and who you shouldn’t start this week.

This week, you should NOT start Fred Johnson, the 6’7″, 328 lb. backup left tackle. Why? Well, I feel like we shouldn’t have to explain this, but since there are a bunch of doofuses on the Internet, we will. For one, Fred Johnson is the Bengals backup offensive tackle. He probably won’t play this week. But even if he did play, that leads us to our second reason: offensive linemen don’t get points in fantasy leagues. Even in a PPR league. (I know, I know, it’s messed up – pancake blocks are just as important as anything). But until Matthew Berry or whoever is the president of fantasy football changes the laws, we have to live by the current ones.

You may be thinking, “Yeah, but Joe Burrow!” Will Joe Burrow make the Bengals offense better? Probably. He can’t make it worse. So I can maybe see your desire to start him this week, but that doesn’t mean the team’s backup left tackle is going to be racking up any fantasy points. Just trust us on this one, please.
