Wait, Rick Moranis Is Back And Nobody Told Me?!

I know I’m a couple days late on this, but Rick Moranis is back?!?! Why the hell didn’t any of you tell me?!

I’ll be damned… The week of comebacks continues! From the NFL, to our Instagram account, to Goldberg The Goalie, to now Mr. Rick Moranis himself?!

And we should’ve guessed that Ryan Reynolds would be the only one able and charming enough to pull this guy back into the spotlight. With those piercing eyes and devilish dimples, Deadpool could probably get anyone on earth to do whatever he wants. Just ask my wife.

And the crazy thing is, he pulled Danny O’Shea back in relevance not for a cameo in a movie, TV show, or anything like that, but rather a *checks notes* Mint Mobile commercial? I don’t even know what the hell Mint Mobile is. But I can say this: putting Dark Helmet in your commercial is the first step toward getting me to buy your product.

I’ll be honest. If you told me earlier that Rick Moranis would trend in 2020, I would’ve assumed the worst. I came to terms with the fact that he’s done. Rick has been gone and out of our lives since Big Bully with Tom Arnold. How do I know this? Because I keep track of Rick Moranis. The guy shrunk his kids and then shrunk his relevance. Leaving us with only Spaceballs, Little Shop of Horrors, The Flintstones, and some SCTV reruns.

But now he’s back and it only plays into my bigger theory… Rick Moranis is going to be in the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. I blogged about it when the first trailer dropped, and this only further pushes and nearly confirms my theory.

You can look at it two ways: 1. After shooting his scenes for Ghostbusters: Afterlife (which was supposed to drop July 10 – thanks, COVID), he became more comfortable to get back in front of a camera again. So when Ryan Reynolds and Boost Mobile Jr. came calling, he said why not. **OR** 2. He decided to do a commercial ahead of Ghostbusters’ release knowing it would create virality, and get this younger generation familiar with him before he busts out in a lead role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Regardless of if my theory comes true or not (it will), I’m just stoked to see the ol’ guy again. It’s like seeing a lost uncle for the first time in decades. I mean, that look he gave to break the fourth wall was all I needed to get me through the rest of this year.

If you love something, you let it go. And if it loves you back, it will return. Welcome back, Wayne Szalinski.
