Players should show off their true talent & have to announce their own games. They probably did it in the old days.

TIRED: walk-up music before an at-bat

WIRED: players announcing themselves before an at-bat

I think the Savannah Bananas are on to something. Forget PA announcers (no disrespect to any PA announcers who read Korked Bats), but players should really be their own hype men. العاب مراهنات Oh, so you can hit a home run 470 feet? Big whoop. Can you do it after using most of your lung capacity to get the crowd on their feet and excited for your at-bat? لعب قمار حقيقي موقع بوكر Anyone can rope a double in the gap. But can you pronounce your own name properly? I mean, talk about a true utility player. A guy who can play infield, outfield, and public address announcing? العاب تجني منها المال ! There should be more of this in baseball. It’ll show off true talent.

Hell, bring this tactic to the NBA. Turn regular-season games into And1 Mixtapes. Only forget the hype man. Make players dribble with one hand and hold the mic with the other. What about football? If Derrick Henry pops off a 15-yard run for a first down, a spotter should run a handheld mic out to him to say “15-yard gain by me, fiiiiiirst down, Tiiiiitans!” You want to make sports better? Put mic’s in players’ hands.

Honestly, this is just an all-time great sports moment. بيت واي And with Billy Squire playing in the background, it’s just *chef’s kiss*.

Also, if you’re wondering if this dude scraped the moon with a blast over the wall after hyping himself, the answer is no. العاب بوكر The opposing team’s pitcher didn’t want that smoke.

REMINDER: Send Us Pictures Of Your Stadium Beers! https://korkedbats.com/reminder-send-us-pictures-of-your-stadium-beers/ https://korkedbats.com/reminder-send-us-pictures-of-your-stadium-beers/#respond Thu, 01 Apr 2021 14:29:39 +0000 http://korkedbats.flywheelsites.com/?p=27732 We tried this last year - which ended up being a bad idea, since, you know, COVID - but this year we want you to send us stadium beer pics!

Opening Day is here (at limited capacity – but hey, we’ll take what we can get right now), which means fans will be back at stadiums. This means, we actually have a shot at pulling off our goal this year.

We want a beer pic from every baseball stadium in the country.

Last year we started this project, and well, it was kind of dumb to do in a year where a global pandemic ravished the earth. So we figured we’d try again this year as more and more people get vaxed and more and more stadiums open up.

So if you hit up a game this year (or if you have in the past and still have the photo), send it to us, and help put a pin on the map with your beer pic.

Either tweet or DM it to @korkedbeers on Twitter or Instagram.

Both MLB and MiLB stadiums count, and below is an animated GIF and list of all of the stadiums we have so far:

Dodger Stadium (Dodgers)

Camelback Ranch (Dodgers/White Sox)

Busch Stadium (Cardinals)

Guaranteed Rate Field (White Sox)

American Family Field (Brewers)

Victory Field (Indianapolis Indians)

Truist Park (Braves)

First Horizon Park (Nashville Sounds)

Smokies Stadium (Tennessee Smokies)

PNC Park (Pittsburgh Pirates)

Progressive Field (Indians)

Fenway Park (Red Sox)

Here are a few examples:

This one counts because the beer is in frame.

We live in a day and age where Minor League Baseball teams all try and out do each other for social media attention with their different theme nights, giveaways, and zany costume uniforms. It’s really kind of grown tired. In fact, it’s almost gotten to the point where teams should just tell us when they don’t have special theme nights. Now that would be news, because it seems like every day, especially this time of year, we’re hearing about…

“Legends of the Hidden Temple uniform night!”

“Tom Brady mystery jersey bobblehead!”

“Coronavirus night!” – unfortunately tickets are non-transferrable

All these teams want are attention on social media and/or write-ups on websites and sports blogs. Well, let me tell you something, buddy… it worked. Because this team in Jacksonville just dropped the best bobblehead.

Sometimes in life, the gods smile upon you, my friend.

One of the greatest scenes from one of the greatest sitcoms of all time can now sit perfectly on your desk at work, or on the shelf in your man cave, or if your wife is like mine, in a box in the back of your closet because “We’re not keeping that out.” But now you can get a bobblehead that you wouldn’t even be able to find in your local jerkstore.

According to MLB.com:

The bobblehead will only be one part of a larger celebration of the sitcom with events ranging from a marble rye fishing competition to an envelope-licking event. The only thing missing is a Jerk Store pop-up, but rumor has it they’re facing some stock shortages.

Here, take five minutes and relive the greatness of that episode.

Minor League, Major Fight https://korkedbats.com/minor-league-major-fight/ https://korkedbats.com/minor-league-major-fight/#respond Wed, 13 Jul 2011 19:01:13 +0000 http://korkedbats.flywheelsites.com/?p=6723 You've got to fight, for your right, to play in the Major Leagues. Literally.

This should be the first baseball brawl you’ve ever seen that was started from a weak ground ball hit to second base. If it’s not, then you’re Vince McMahon and you’re attempting to start an XLB league. The longer you watch this video for, the better it gets. Everyone loses it. Guys are going all American History X on each other. Then just when you think the fight is over, a bomb goes off in the stadium. Naw, we’re kidding. But I wouldn’t be surprised considering how fast this fight escalated from a simple 4-6 putout.

This fight was between the Class A Spokane Indians of the Texas Rangers organization and the Vancouver Canadian of the Blue Jays organization. The Indians vs. the Canadian? What is this, the consolation match for American history?

Nashville Sounds Like Baseball https://korkedbats.com/nashville-sounds-like-baseball/ https://korkedbats.com/nashville-sounds-like-baseball/#respond Mon, 27 Jun 2011 14:01:42 +0000 http://korkedbats.flywheelsites.com/?p=6507 Erin took in her first baseball game since Griffey played for the Mariners. Read about her experience at the Brewers' AAA affiliate, the Nashville Sounds game.

This past weekend I went to the first baseball game I had been to since Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez played for the same team. You know, the same team that had Randy Johnson still throwing fast balls with his sweet mullet.

This was all before the King Dome was a faint memory to the city of Seattle and before I had fully grown into my front teeth.  Needless to say, it was time for me to go to another baseball game.  I have lived in Nashville for almost five years now and this was the first time that I have ever thought about going to a Nashville Sounds game.  I had never even heard of the Sounds.  They sure never played the Mariners.

So I found out that the Nashville Sounds aren’t exactly the Big Leagues.  They are like the “B” team, or the understudy, or the less attractive sister.  They are the close but no cigar team.  Sorry, guys.

The game was okay. We won at the last minute. I ate a personal pan pizza and ice cream out of a little plastic baseball helmet.  The people around me were glad that I brought my harmonica and the fireworks which were set to Michael Jackson music was the cherry on top of this magical night.

I am so glad to know that Nashville not only has a football team that may or may not play in the fall and a hockey team with great potential and the inability to close the deal, but now I am fully ready to commit to Nashville’s very own almost famous baseball team.

Let’s do it again, Nashville.

Racial Tensions Flare After Rookie Pitcher Gets Third Strike-Out https://korkedbats.com/racial-tensions-flare-after-rookie-pitcher-gets-third-strike-out/ https://korkedbats.com/racial-tensions-flare-after-rookie-pitcher-gets-third-strike-out/#respond Tue, 26 Apr 2011 21:01:33 +0000 http://korkedbats.flywheelsites.com/?p=5664 Sports journalists everywhere have stepped up to try and explain that the "K's" have nothing to do with white power and simply just represent strikeouts, but fans aren't listening.

OKLAHOMA – Minor league pitcher, Charlie Milbourne, was booed off the field today after ending the game with only three strike-outs. According to fans, the anger was less about him throwing a horrible game and giving up five runs in the first inning, and more about the three consecutive ‘K’s that appeared on scoreboard.

“Three ‘K’s in a row, really? What is this, 1950’s Alabama?” said one fan. Sports journalists everywhere have stepped up to try and explain that the ‘K’s have nothing to do with white power and simply just represent strikeouts, but fans aren’t listening.

According to Milbourne, he’s already received threatening letters in the mail, demanding that he transfer teams: “One letter told me that if I didn’t leave, they’d come to my house and burn a cross in my front yard, just so I can see how it feels… that one didn’t make much sense to me.”

Irrational acts of self-righteous revenge aside, some fans are simply playing along in hopes of getting Milbourne traded: “I didn’t send any letters to his [Milbourne’s] house, but I did send one to the GM. We really need a better starter if we want to win any games this year so I did what any good fan would do. I threatened to kill his dogs if he didn’t get rid of Milbourne. ”

With tensions flaring and others using the tensions for their own selfish causes, it’s uncertain how this scenario will play out. So for now, all we can do is sit back and hope that human beings stop being so stupid.
