Finding out little tidbits about Nick Saban, in my opinion, is better than finding out little tidbits about your parents in their college days. Nick Saban, to me, is fascinating. Not only has he built a damn unbreakable empire in Tuscaloosa, but he’s also done it fairly privately. There isn’t a ton we know about his personal life. But thanks to his daughter, that curtain has been peeled back just a little bit more. With this insane fact about his fear of Kris Kringle.

If you would’ve asked me prior to seeing this tweet if Nick Saban was afraid of anything, I would’ve said no way, José. That man is fearless. He’s a human embodiment of those popular No Fear t-shirts from the 90s. There was a period of time where I feel like he was afraid of no-huddle offenses, but then he adopted that philosophy, so that fear quickly went out the door like Lane Kiffin with a job offer. But the thought of the greatest college football coach being terrified of ol’ Saint Nick is only partly surprising. Mainly because I get it. I, too, used to be terrified of that fat man. Growing up my sister and I each had mini-Christmas trees on our nightstands, and we would wake up on December 25th to a small present under that tree. As I grew a little older, I realized that Santa Claus had to walk upstairs to my bedroom to put that gift there. Meaning there was a damn stranger in my room in the middle of the night. I was terrified I was going to wake up to some fat man laying a present down close to my face. From that point on, I was terrified of him. Maybe Nick Saban also had a mini-tree on his nightstand? Or maybe he was just terrified at the thought of a heavy-set, red-suited, bearded stranger entering his home through the chimney. How can you NOT be scared of that??
