For Korked Bats, “Super” Wild Card Weekend Was Anything But “Super”

It was supposed to be a magical weekend. One that we, collectively as a blog, would remember for years to come. One that we would be swinging from the chandelier in excitement. One that we would potentially be telling our nonexistent grandchildren about. One that had me plotting what needed to happen for a Steelers vs. Titans AFC Championship aka The Korked Bats Civil War. And then I woke up. From a nightmare of a Sunday.

“Super” Wild Card weekend was basically the opposite of super. It was terrible. Downright sad. And speaking of the “super”-ness, I hope the NFL realizes we can never go back to just “Wild Card” weekend. We can only go up from here. Whether it’s adding another word like “Super Awesome Wild Card,” “Super Duper Wild Card” weekend or frankly “Super Sad and Depressing Wild Card” weekend would be nice.

For the first time practically all season, Austin’s Titans actually played some defense and were able to hold the Ravens to 20 points. That would’ve been awesome…. if the offense didn’t decide to take a day off. The Titans were averaging 30+ a game but couldn’t get anything going. MVP-hopeful and this blog’s favorite player, Derrick “Tractorcito” Henry, only rumbled and stumbled for a measly 40 yards. It was sad.

Like really sad.

As for my Steelers, well, they lost the game after the first snap. Maurkice Pouncey straight up snapped the ball nearly 4 feet over Big Ben’s head. And that’s a big head. Normally you’d be able to come back from something like that but, no, Ben went ahead and threw a very bad interception the next series. The pain, agony, and suffering didn’t end there. I recapped the game here:

To make matters worse, our losing efforts weren’t even broadcast on Nickelodeon. Saints and Bears fans got to experience something that anyone who grew up in the 90’s would kill for, the chance to be on Nickelodeon. AND BE SLIMED! You know how much easier that loss would’ve been on me? Sure seeing the Browns score suck, but it wouldn’t suck to see the Browns get slimed!

It was like Slime Time Live out there.

Unfortunately, Sunday, January 10th, 2021 will go down in history as the worst recorded day in history for Korked Bats. Please no further questions.
