A Defense For Carson Wentz From The Most Unbiased Source On The Internet: A Philly Sports Fan

Hello die-hard Eagles fans and everyone else who enjoys the NFL. I’ve got an important announcement to make, so listen up. YOU’RE ALL WRONG ABOUT CARSON WENTZ! You might be wondering, “How is this possible?” as there are a wide array of opinions on the young quarterback. Let me explain. Carson Wentz is better than even the most optimistic fan suspects, and I’m here to tell you why. This is for the Eagles fan who doesn’t appreciate what they have, all the way to the football troll who likes to make memes about Wentz getting hurt.

For all the Eagles fans who are not on the Wentz Wagon, wake up. I don’t know if anyone was watching last year, but this man single-handedly carried his team into the playoffs while throwing to practice squad receivers and guys Howie Roseman found outside the Wawa by his house. I defy you to find another quarterback who can win 4 straight divisional games to end the season including basically a play-in game against the Cowboys.

Who knows how far he would have carried the team if not for a cheap shot by absolute dirty player Jadaveon Clowney who remains unsigned probably because no team in the league wants to deal with his overrated play and horrible personality. All bias aside, of course. Also, anyone who points to that hit to show he’s injury prone, shut the hell up. He was already going to the ground when he was speared from behind from the aforementioned trash.

Now let’s move on to the Nick Foles people. I want to get one thing straight, I love Nick Foles and will always be grateful for him bringing home a Super Bowl win for the Birds, but let’s be real, he caught lightening in a bottle. If you remember the Divisional Playoff game against the Falcons, his longest completion was a ball that bounced off the Falcon’s safety’s into Torrey Smith’s hands.

There is no Super Bowl run without the home field advantage that Wentz won the birds with his MVP-like campaign through the first 14 weeks before his ACL tear against the Rams. Furthermore Foles people, look back at the start of the 2019 season where Wentz was rushed back six weeks earlier than projected because Foles was absolutely dreadful against the Falcons and Buccaneers in the first two weeks, which led to Wentz having to play with a broken bone in his back.

Also, here’s a fun fact for the “Wentz is always hurt” people. Over his four year career, Wentz has missed a total of eight regular season games, and played all 16 games in his rookie year and last year. That total is fewer than 14 other starting quarterbacks over that span making him somewhere in the middle of the quarterback pack when it comes to injuries. So take that!

Over the last 3 years, Wentz has thrown for 81 touchdowns vs. only 21 interceptions, which would rank him as the 2nd best QB of all-time when it comes to TD/INT ratio behind only Aaron Rodgers. Last year, Wentz was the first quarterback ever to throw for over 4,000 yards without a single wide receiver catching more than 500 yards. Wentz is only 27-years-old, has already won two division titles, and has set the Eagles passing yard record in a season record twice. He’s easily the most underrated player in the league.

Quarterbacks normally hit their prime in their late twenties to early thirties so watch out. Carson Wentz WILL stay healthy these next few years, and WILL win another MVP and at least one more Super Bowl, if not more. All the haters can laugh now and say I’m crazy, but when Wentz’s career is over and he’s being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I will be drinking a tall glass of I told you so, tearing up with pride watching one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time being enshrined in Canton.
