Korked Bats

Let’s Make Some Korked… Bets

We all want more money. The problem is, obtaining that extra sum can prove to be a challenge. You could ask for a raise, but you’re unlikely to get it (knowing you). You could get an extra job, but would miss your family and television. You could rob a bank, but don’t. Please, please just don’t. What you could do to make that extra cheddar is bet along with us.

Every week I’ll be sharing my college and NFL picks that are allegedly certain to make you money. Good things come in threes (Stooges, outs, -omes), so each week I’ll share a three-pick parlay that I have the utmost confidence in and will be putting money on. Forget love, three is all you need! Hitting a three-pick parlay is a great low-risk high-reward bet. With a full slate of games on the day, we just have to find our favorite three. Here’s what I have this week.

Clemson @ Pittsburgh Pick: PITT -3.5

Looking at the schedule ahead of the season, I wouldn’t have expected to be making this pick. Clemson is no longer the team we grew accustomed to with Lawrence and Watson under center. The offense is…for lack of a better term: blah. The defense can still win them games, however. On the other sidelines, Pittsburgh is shaping up to be one of the best in the conference this year, led by a Heisman caliber fifth-year senior. I’m taking the experience here and expecting the Panthers to come out on top and cover.

USC @ Notre Dame Pick: ND -7.5

The spread was a little kinder last night so I missed out on half a point that I would have liked to have, but still expect the Irish to cover comfortably here. The Trojans are too unpredictable to bet on, despite the talent on their roster. Give me Notre Dame.

Ohio State @ Indiana Pick: OSU -21

I hate spreads greater than 20. It just never feels right. You never know when they might go to the second-stringers. That’s why I’m avoiding the 38-point spread for Oklahoma this week and a big spread for Alabama. However, I feel like I can be at ease with the Buckeyes being three-touchdown favorites. It’s what they do. They’ve been the top of the B1G for as long as I can remember, and as far as I’m concerned, the championship still goes through them. I expect them to put up big numbers on Indiana, who can struggle on both sides of the ball.

We don’t do Honorable Mentions, there is no honor in a mention… but if we did:

North Carolina State @ Miami Pick: NCST -3.5

Miami has not looked good this year. If you want to increase your odds and add a fourth bet to our three, feel free. I just fear them eventually snapping out of it, but injuries may very well prevent that from happening this week.

Oklahoma State vs Iowa State Pick: OKST +7

I wanted to include one pick where I’m not taking the favorite. These two teams like to keep it close when they play each other. Oklahoma State is higher ranked, but Iowa State’s offense is finally starting to wake up, making it a difficult pick. I expect it to be close, so will take the Cowboys to not lose by more than a touchdown.
