I hate the NFL offseason because of tweets like this. We’re in the midst of LADDER DRILL SZN where fans gush over every blurry iPhone-filmed clip from the local beat writer standing 50 yards away. Now let me start by saying I don’t want this to come across as an attack on Sal. It’s not. It’s not even an attack on the state of Jerrrssseeeyyy. Anyone who is a Titans fan – whether I disagree with nearly everything they say – is ok by me. Sal’s tweet is just being used as an example because it’s the latest one I’ve seen. No, this is an attack on everyday fans (of all teams) acting like NFL scouts because they watch NFL Live, listen to a Mina Kimes podcast, and of course, played a little ball back in high school (not to brag). They think they know football more than most people on the internet. You’ll see words thrown out like mechanics, RPO, schemes, catch radius, footwork, or one of my favorites, intangibles. Give it a rest, Pro Football Focus. This form of machismo remains unrivaled. But the truth is, we’re all just fans. Not experts. If you were an expert in the game, YOU’D BE WORKING IN THE GAME. Don’t try and flex your knowledge for football when you work in digital accounting. So you watch a lot of football and have a YouTube channel with over 600 subscribers on the side? So does EVERYONE! If anything, it’s somewhat insulting to people who actually work in these fields. Like Quincy here.

This is the sports version of “Oh you’re a Fleet Foxes fan? Name 3 of their albums.” And if you’re curious as to how the naming of the Fleet Foxes albums went…

Quincy is literally an Elite 11 Quarterback Coach. So when he sees tweets like these, I’m sure his eyes rolled out of the back of his head on a tighter spiral than he could even coach. I don’t blame him either. I’ve worked in radio for nearly a decade and a half and when I see people who don’t work in radio tweet about radio, it’s annoying. I’m sure others feel the same about their industries. And again, I know this feels like an attack on Salvador. At least he had the wherewithal to start with the “I know it means nothing… I truthfully do” caveat. Although he then proceeded to throw that caveat out the window with the contradicting statement that immediately succeeded it. But still. This isn’t a Sal shot, because for every Sal, there are a million other fans in all the other staaaattteeesssssss. The moral of the story: if you plan on touting your football knowledge with the world, even though you work in real estate or in sales for a natural gas company, be prepared to back it up with actual knowledge. Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy the sport.

Please get here soon, actual football.

On Monday night during his weekly coaches radio show, Mike Vrabel confirmed he will not be making any staff changes in season. GOOD! It’s not like any coaches have shown first-hand any reason why they should be relieved of their duties… especially Todd Downing. I mean, if you watched the game on Sunday or any game for the last season and a half, you know that the Titans should stick to The Titans shouldn’t fire Todd Downing, and I lay out my reasons why in the video above. Enjoy!

Ryan Tannehill Ripped A Big Ol’ Fart All Over Everyone Who Destroyed Him For His “Mentoring” Stance https://korkedbats.com/ryan-tannehill-ripped-a-big-ol-fart-all-over-everyone-who-destroyed-him-for-his-mentoring-stance/ Tue, 24 May 2022 19:58:59 +0000 https://korkedbats.com/?p=30501 The post Ryan Tannehill Ripped A Big Ol’ Fart All Over Everyone Who Destroyed Him For His “Mentoring” Stance appeared first on Korked Bats.

Tough day for Ryan Tannehill haters worldwide.

Especially guys like Big Razz, who now have to find another character flaw to clown Tannehill for. After he squashed advertised tweet gate, he’s now completely killed off mentor-gate after meeting with the media after OTA’s today.

“I meant no disrespect to Malik or anything like that,” Tannehill said on Tuesday. “We’ve been in constant communication since he was drafted. I’m disappointed in how things got spun and twisted a little bit. I pride myself on being a great teammate my whole career going back to when I was a kid playing youth sports.”

via ESPN.com

That sound you hear is ever Tanne-denier pulling muscles reaching for a new narrative to rip him for.

“As soon as it blew up, I reached out to him and said, ‘Hey, I’m going to be a great teammate to you, I’m going to support you. They’re making this out to something that it’s not to be. It’s not what it’s been made out to be at all,'” he said. “He’s been good. He was great with it throughout the whole time. It’s been great to have him in the room and build that relationship.”

In fact, let’s go ahead and take a moment of silence for all the Big Razz’s out there today who will need a lot of time to figure out a new plan to destroy Tannehill.

Lol, just kidding. They won’t put that much time into it, they’ll just open up phone lines to “get YOUR reaction” and “talk about what YOU wanna talk about!”

So let this be a good litmus test for who’s opinion you should take and/or listen to. After Tannehill squashed it and Malik Willis himself came out and called Ryan a “great teammate,” said he’s been over to Tannehill’s home and squashed this little “mentor-gate,” if there’s anyone still trying to stroke the flames of this narrative, you know they’re a dodo bird.

Now, I know this may come across like I’m carrying Tannehill’s water, or in the words of one specific tweeter who tweets at me whenever I say anything even remotely positive about Tannehill, “I have Tannehill’s nuts in my mouth,” but honestly, I’m not some massive Tannehill stan (nor have I ever claimed to be), I’m more of what they call a Titans stan. It may appear like I have “Tanny’s nuts in my mouth,” because I defend him when he’s being unjustly ripped to shreds. But somehow, we got to a place where there is no nuance when it comes to #17. If you don’t piss on his grave, then you have his testicles in your mouth. There is no ground for someone like me who is severely disappointed in his playoff performance against the Bengals, but also isn’t ready to burn his house down the next time he throws a pick at Nissan Stadium. Maybe that’s just because I came to terms early on that the Titans are rolling with him under center for – at least – another season, so I figured I’d support him until he’s no longer wearing two-toned blue. You know, like a fan of the Titans would. If you’re a Titan, I support you. If you’re not, I don’t. That simple, really. So I guess that’s why I come to the defense of a guy who I think gets wrongly clowned because he threw three interceptions in an important game.

Which is why I’m glad he came out and handled what became an extremely overblown offseason topic by removing the ammo out of every talking head’s mouth bazooka. And putting his nuts in mine, apparently.

Allow me to be the first to say RIP in peace to “mentor-gate,” gone but not forgotten.

Mentor-gate

Another day, another reason to hate on Ryan Tannehill, amirite sports talk radio?! In a business starved for NFL content (despite literally three other sports leagues in action right now, two of which in their respective playoffs), hosts will scrape the bottom of the barrel to rant about anything. So when Ryan Tannehill claims he’s not wanting to mentor Malik Willis, you better believe lazy sports talk hosts took this quote and ran with it as an opportunity to jump down QB1’s throat. Here is a sample of some of the things they said… brought to you by Big Razz. And Grinders Coffee.

The other day, Ryan Tannehill’s Twitter account posted a very mundane and pretty boring sponsored post. Who cares, right? Well, apparently content-starved sports talk radio hosts do. A lot. They spent a lot of time talking about it. But don’t worry, they handled it very maturely and with a lot of nuance. Lol, SIKE! THEY DIDN’T! So here’s a video parodying their reaction. Is there a specific sports talk radio host this video is referencing? No. Not one. A few. People within the Nashville market probably know, so no need to name names. But it’s trying to turn something out of nothing, which I will give credit for. Because most of the time sports talk radio hosts turn nothing out of something, as most of the time the bare minimum is put into content that could be great. However, this Tannehill they chose to die on felt like a bit of a Freddie Freeman stretch. No matter your thoughts on Ryan Tannehill as a quarterback – or even as the Titans quarterback – I think we can all agree, this was Andy Cohen-levels of trying to produce drama. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video.

And if you haven’t already, please subscribe to Korked Bats on YouTube as we continue to try and grow that platform! You can catch MORE Big Razz there too.

I am numb. My heart aches. I feel like I just listened to an entire Smiths album. I don’t want to do anything today. My wife made me go to the grocery store and it took me two hours because I caught myself just wandering aimlessly down the aisles. I also couldn’t find Clif Bars. The NFL season is so damn long (even longer now), and to earn the 1-seed only to go one and done in the playoffs has to be the biggest rug pull of all time. لعبه بينجو I could watch the ending to Marley & Me on loop and still not be as sad as I am right now.

And now Titans fans and the national media are going to be flinging a lot of Ryan Tannehill jokes and hate around like monkeys flinging poop this offseason, but I’ve always been a believer of the philosophy “don’t be critical without offering a solution.” And really, what is the solution here? Due to Tannehill’s contract, you can’t just trade him. You can’t cut him. Nor do I think you should, either. (I’ll get to that in a sec.) You’re not going to draft a QB – or at least you shouldn’t. This year’s quarterback draft class is one of the worst in years (no offense to A.D. and his boy Kenny Pickett).

To me, this is simple and obvious. It starts above Tannehill.

From 2019 (when Tannehill took over as starter) to 2020, Ryan Tannehill was the top-rated quarterback in the NFL. That’s not hyperbole. He had a higher passer rating than Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, and even Sam Darnold!! Tannehill also produced the most game-winning drives in the 4th quarter and overtime of any quarterback in football in that same time span. Again, not a joke. Since taking over for Mariota, he’s played at an elite level. People won’t talk about it, because it doesn’t fit the Tannehill sucked in Miami narrative, but it’s 100% true. In fact, Tannehill was the signal-caller for the 3rd best offense in football last season, an offense that was the top-ranked offense in the NFL for most of the season. 1xbet arabic

So what changed from last year to this year?

This.

Former tight ends coach turned offensive coordinator Arthur Smith left to coach the Falcons. And by the looks of it, he’s loving it.

So who did the Titans choose to take his place? Well, they tried catching lightning in a bottle twice by promoting another tight ends coach and instead electrocuted themselves with Todd Downing.

To be blunt, I’d rather have this Todd calling plays on the Titans sideline.

At least his play calls would be sexual and violent.

But for real. Tannehill turned the ball over a lot this season. Yes, a majority of that is on Tannehill, but the fact that he didn’t progress? الربح الحقيقى من الانترنت The fact that he actually regressed into old bad habits? That majority is on coaching. I know I can’t put all of the blame on Todd. This Titans team was plagued with injuries this year. And that’s an understatement. They were the most injured team in the history of football. Again, not hyperbole. They set an NFL record by Week 12. So it’s not like he had a full deck to work with. But when he did, like on Saturday, it was extremely underwhelming. And yes, you can rip Downing for a lot of his play-calling. Many Titans do every week. But to me, it’s deeper than that. It’s the lack of progression or improvement that we saw throughout the season.

So again, don’t be critical without offering a solution. What’s my solution?

Do what you did last year with the defense to this offense. Reshuffle the coaching assignments. They brought in a defensive stud like Jim Schwartz and went from one of the worst defenses in the NFL to a team that sacked Joe Burrow *Ferris Bueller’s principal voice* NINE TIMES in a game. All in one year. So now do whatever it takes to fix this. Because one look at Todd and it’s a clear “this ain’t it, chief.” Especially when you consider what he produced in his one season as Raiders offensive coordinator, and pair that with what he did with a trio of Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, and Julio Jones on two weeks rest yesterday.

Tannehill can be great. We’ve seen it. We can see it again. He just needs the coaches and offensive gurus around him to help get him there. The Titans need a guy who can whip Tannehill out of bad habits when he regresses. He’s only had that once in his career so far. Adam Gase was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Todd Downing clearly ain’t the answer in Nashville. Tannehill only had success when he worked under a great coach. Titans just need to find that guy again.

Easier said than done, I know. But it feels like every year there’s a new whiz kid rising in the ranks. Get yourself a Sean McVay, a Brandon Staley, hell, maybe you can lift Kellen Moore from the Cowboys for cheap after that idiotic quarterback draw call in his two-minute offense. And to the people who say, “Why would you want him after that call?” I view it the same way I view plane crashes. The safest time to fly is after a plane crash, which means the safest time to hire Kellen Moore would be after that plane crash he has against San Francisco. Buy low, sell high, ya know?

But if the Titans can flip that defense in one year like Chip and Joanna, there’s no doubt in my mind they can do the same to the offense. It’s just gonna take some serious look in the mirror, come to Jesus moments within the walls of that building. It’s gonna take a lot of pride swallowing. It’s gonna take finding an O.C. who isn’t obsessed with 2nd and 10 run plays and screens to Chester Rodgers. But just do whatever it takes, Titans. Because there is a championship window for this team, but it’s closing fast. So get after it. Not now, but right now.

Also, please change the name of the stadium to Nissan Coliseum this offseason. Thank you.

The post Everyone’s Take On The Titans Win Over The Rams appeared first on Korked Bats.

How in the world did the Tennessee Titans beat the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night without Derrick Henry? Hell, how do they do ANYTHING without Derrick Henry? I know there’s a rumor floating around league circles claiming the franchise has 52 other people on their roster, but I don’t believe it. How?! And I don’t believe this team could’ve ever done anything competent without Derrick Henry being lined up in their backfield. For example, Ryan Tannehill completed a pass last night. Can you believe it? Because I can’t. Sure, he has the third-highest passer rating since taking over as starter in 2019 (behind only Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees – one of which is retired, the other is immunized) but that was all because of Derrick Henry, right? And yeah, since 2019, Tannehill leads the NFL in both 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives, but that’s all because of Derrick Henry too, right? Even though late in games Derrick isn’t getting the ball, and many times, isn’t even on the field. I mean, please. You mean to tell me Ryan Tannehill has somehow gotten better since leaving that quarterback whisperer Adam Gase in Miami? No way, Jose! It’s all because he has Derrick Henry in his backfield.

So the fact they won without him makes it all the more head-scratching. It’s almost as if they’re well-coached and have talented players at other positions which helped lead to their #1 AFC seed prior to Sunday. Lol, jk. Yeah right! We all know it was solely because of Derrick Henry.

I mean, the Titans even made tackles, forced turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown without Derrick Henry. Does anyone know how? Because I sure don’t. It’s almost as if this defense being good didn’t rely on #22 at all. Lol, again, yeah right! They clearly had to. I mean, we all know that the Tennessee Titans are nothing without Derrick Henry. We know this because it’s all anyone said since Monday morning of last week when the injury was announced. The Titans were done-cakes the minute Adam Schefter pressed send on that tweet. No way this team could have any success against anyone the rest of the way.

So let’s go ahead and chalk Sunday night up for what it was: a fluke. How else does a Derrick Henry-less Titans team win a game, let alone get off the bus. Derrick Henry is everything for that franchise. He’s their running back, their pass catcher, their pass thrower, their coach, their general manager, their trainer. Hell, Derrick runs payroll for the entire organization. He’s facility security, the color analyst on their radio broadcasts, and the team surgeon who operated on himself. Owner Amy Adams Strunk? Yup, just Derrick in a wig.

Derrick Henry isn’t just a Titan, the Titans are Derrick Henry. And without them, they’re done for. Without question. Plan the visitation, prepare the funeral arrangements, and start arguing over the will. Because the sans-Derrick Henry Tennessee Titans are DEAD.

(aside from the 28-16 drubbing of the previously 7-1 Los Angeles Rams)

To quote the late great Keith Jackson, Titans-Ravens is a game between two teams who just “flat out don’t like each other.” And that proved to be true this past Sunday in Week 11. The game started with fireworks and ended with an absolute explosion. We break it down from the beef at the beginning to the beef at the end – and everything in between.

Also, shoutout Arthur Juan Brown for going off in this game, who we’ve been big on since last December.

I’m a Tennessee Titans fan. But that honestly shouldn’t matter, because anyone with half a brain can see the Titans are winning the Super Bowl this season.

They’ve been waiting in line – like every other team – for their shot at the Lombardi Trophy, but Jadeveon Clowney was their Fast Pass. They now get to skip the line and go straight to the front.

This is a defense that already had a top-ten secondary (most of whom were injured for the AFC Championship game – which is why the result of that game was different than the Titans-Chiefs game from the regular season), and sure they lost Logan Ryan, but they got younger and faster with Kristian Fulton out of LSU who they somehow had fall in their lap in the second round. Guess everyone else in the sport is a bunch of dum-dums. And now they’re getting Vic Beasley AND Jadeveon Clowney to fill the hole left by Jurrell Casey? Pair them with Jeffrey Simmons? Ha, good luck offensive lines. So the Titans’ defensive line got immensely better too.

Now, maybe you’re one of those doofuses out there who’s pointing at Jadeveon Clowney’s PFF page screaming, “BUT HE ONLY HAD 3 SACKS LAST YEAR IN 13 GAMES!” First off, no grown man should put that much emphasis on sacks. Second, you’re right. He wasn’t great last year. But neither was the Seattle Seahawks defense. They were in the bottom third of the league in every category. And you know who’s going to get the most attention in a lousy defense? The best player. Thus why Jadeveon didn’t produce much. I’d like to see you try and fend off double-teams.

But if you take it back to 2017, when Jadeveon had his best statistical year of his career, guess who was his defensive coordinator.

That’s right. This guy:

No not Chubby Frozone, the extra from Deliverance, or the pooping kid in the back. I’m talking about the legend in the Banana Republic button-up.

Michael George Vrabel.

Somehow, in Vrabel’s lone year as the defensive coordinator of the Houston Texans, he was able to get more production out of Clowney than we’ve seen since his South Carolina days. And now that the two are back together, I don’t know how you could expect anything less.

Haters will say it’s not happening. Which is fine. They won’t be able to deny the defense, but they’ll look to the offense and start trying to poke holes there. And they’ll start with QB1. They’ll say things like, “You really think Ryan Tannehill is good enough to win a Super Bowl?” Let me answer that question by showing you Super Bowl winning quarterbacks of the past.

So in a word: yes.

The NFL tries to sell you on this theory that you have to have the ghost of Johnny Unitas at quarterback to have any kind of chance to win a Super Bowl. That’s not true. You just need a defense that can shut down every single offense and quarterback who can do just enough. And I’m pretty sure, Tannehill has more than enough to lead a team to a Super Bowl – especially with the three-headed monster of talent he has surrounding him: A.J. Brown, Jonnu Smith, and the king, Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. And if you’re a regular Korked Bats (The #1 Derrick Henry Fan Site On The Internet™) reader, you already know how we feel about Derrick Henry. You can’t hit someone with the “You really think Tannehill can win a Super Bowl?” when literally Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl.

If you’re a betting man, go ahead and put down some Benjamins on the Titans hoisting the Lombardi in February (or April – if the Super Bowl gets delayed because of another COVID flare up). They’re building something great in Nashville from the front office down to the mascot (shout out, T-Rac) to the defense.
