What Andy Petite Said To Mariano Rivera On The Mound

Last night, Mariano Rivera, arguably the greatest closer in the history of baseball, made his final appearance in Yankee Stadium. Instead of Yankees Manager Joe Girardi coming out to the mound to relieve him, Girardi sent long-time teammates of Rivera, Andy Petite and Derek Jeter. This made for an unforgettable moment that brought Rivera to tears.

But it wasn’t the unforgettable moment that brought Mariano Rivera to tears. It was what Andy Petite whispered in his ear:
