VCU’s Pep Band Director is a Former N’Sync Back-Up Dancer

If you’ve been paying attention to March Madness, you know all about 11 seed VCU and how they’ve somehow managed to beat Georgetown and Purdue, simultaneously ruining my bracket and landing them a spot in the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. Cool, right? Wrong.

Universities like VCU always have some creepy/weird thing about them that reminds everyone why they would never want to go to school there. In this case, it’s their pep band director, Ryan Kopacsi. He’s the kind of band director that removes any doubt a bully may have about punching a band kid in the face. He’s the manifestation of every white stereotype I can think of, and he makes me so uncomfortable that I instinctively clench my cheeks together anytime I see a video of him, just to be safe. Why? Let me show you:

This is not a drill. This is real.

Was he actually a back-up dancer for N’Sync? I doubt it, and honestly, he seems more like a 98 Degrees kinda guy to me, but that’s beyond the point. The point here is that this man is still loose, and he is armed with fierce hips and a director’s wand. All I’m saying is, be careful, and maybe put the kids in a different room this Thursday when you watch VCU take-on Florida State.

I am a VCU student. I happen to think Ryan the pep band director is a dick (had experiences with him) However I happen to think you are a bigger dick.

“Universities like VCU always have some creepy/weird thing about them that reminds everyone why they would never want to go to school there.”

Yeah, 30,000 students wouldn’t want to go to a school like VCU, where the student body is something other than frat douches and sorostitutes. Where there isn’t a sea of white people everywhere you look and people respect each other’s individuality. Sounds like VCU sucks, right?

Get off your high horse and realize that one effing pep band director doesn’t accurately describe an entire university.

WOW! easy on the roid rage!

OK, and your steroids come with a side, would you like the french fries or steamed vegetables?

AHHHHHHHHHHH it just makes me so FREAKING MAD when people don’t recognize.

Last but not least, you can talk to me about your “experieces.” Did he touch you? Is that why you are lashing out young man?

Makes me uncomfortable ? Nah. He is probably just a fun guy. And as others have stated, it isnt something that would keep me from VCU.

Yea I’m uncomfortable with this. Probably not uncomfortable enough to keep me out of a University (just think how many more around are just like him) but uncomfortable none the less.

That video was classic! This guy is an embarrassment for sure… watching this clip I dont know whether I should laugh or throw up! The band members, generally speaking, have enough to endure without this guy. That was brutal…

I’m a mom and yes I’m older probably than anyone that has posted here, but I still have an opinion and here it is………….I think something is wrong with this guy. I think he is using pep band to live out his desire to be center of attention – maybe he hasn’t been able to make a career as a model or dancer. I think he has landed in a perfect place for someone like him. Endless young girls and the opportunity to be semi-famous. He propositioned my daughter and I can only imagine how many others over the years there have been and how many didn’t turn him down. Not only did he proposition her, he also gave her alcohol and she is under 21. No big deal to her. She turned him down, laughed it off or whatever, but as a parent and a woman with a little life experience, I see him for exactly what he is. I hear he is very charming and he obviously has a talent for engaging a crowd, but come on…. he is a pep band director. VCU should not be his private outlet to fulfill his own agenda or fantasies and if I thought it would do any good whatsoever I would be in the Dean’s office raising hell, but my daughter would be very embarassed and after all she is an adult and I’m sure that is what they would tell me. I just think about all the girls that didn’t turn him down and that he hooked up with. Makes me very sad and I wish there was some way to end his position at VCU. Not for the sake of the school, but for the sake of the girls he has used and will continue to manipulate.
