This Short-Film ‘Darker Colors’ Is Better Than Anything On Netflix

If you have 12 minutes to spare (or even if you don’t, just be late to whatever it is you have to get to), you definitely need to put that time towards watching this brand new short film, Darker Colors. It’s a new short film distributed by Red Giant that has a feel like Stranger Things and War of The Worlds had a very sensual night, poured way too much wine, and nine months later out came this short film.

Full disclosure: the director, Seth Worley, is a childhood friend of mine, and he’s been making short films for years, including Plot Device, Old/New (narrated by Patton Oswalt), Real Gone (for ages 13+), Tempo. He’s also done some work for J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company, which I feel like is something that would look good on a resume or cool to bring up at a dinner party. I’m not lying when I say he’s my generation’s Steven Spielberg/J.J. Abrams hybrid.

I should warn you, though. This movie might make you want to confiscate all of your kids art supplies.

And if you care to check out the behind the scenes, it might be just as intriguing as paint monsters.
