The NBA Star War

Last night, NBA Commissioner David Stern vetoed a three-team trade between the New Orleans Hornets, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Houston Rockets (yes, they’re still around). The trade was primarily centered around NBA superstar Chris Paul. The Lakers got Paul, the Hornets took all sports relevance from Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, and Kevin Martin, and Pau Gasol drew the shortest straw, getting sent to the Houston Rockets. However, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilber sent an email to Commissioner Stern calling the trade “a travesty.” (Which, to put things into perspective, a travesty is slightly better than the Cavaliers 2010-2011 season.) He proposed that Stern put the trade up for a vote amongst the other 29 owners. The trade didn’t pass the vote, leading to a veto from Stern. All players returned to where they came from.

Not following? Don’t worry, we’ll break it down for you.

Considering the Los Angeles Lakers franchise was one of the biggest proponents of this trade, we decided to reenact this whole saga with a Hollywood film. And considering this is primarily a war for NBA stars, we decided to go with Star Trek Star Wars. Enjoy, nerds…
