Southern Illinois Volleyball Player Needs A New Signature

If I had a nickel for every time Southern Illinois Saluki Volleyball made headlines, I’d be able to buy a stick of gum from an old-timey country grocery. (Just 5¢, because Southern Illinois Saluki volleyball team doesn’t make headlines very often. That was the point of that last analogy.)

The school recently released their promotional poster for the upcoming 2014 volleyball season. At first glance everything looks great. In fact, I don’t see what the problem is.

It’s fun! It’s diverse! It’s autographed! I mean, what more do you need out of a Southern Illinois Salukis volleyball promotional poster? I can’t think of anything.

Ok, why are you zooming in on Meg Viggars? What’s wrong with Meg?

Meg Viggars

We love Meg! She’s the 6-foot sophomore who plays setter and occasionally hitter, who is from England! I bet she’s always answering questions about England for all the American girls on the team. And plus, look at that French braid! That takes skill and talent and knowing how to speak French, I assume. Meg just seems like the kind of girl who’s motto in life is “Live. Laugh. Love.”

Meg is awesome! She’s always hitting that volleyball over the net and stuff. Classic Meg!

And she even has great penmanship…

Wait…

Oh. My. Word.

MEGAN! WHAT THE HECK?!

Meg, honey, you might want to consider a new signature. That looks an awful lot like… well… Just maybe print your name from here on out, cool?

I realize you were trying to be artsy by combining the M and the V into one, but… It’s just… It’s very close to… well… Let’s just not. Ok?

And the worst part, according to her bio on SIUSalukis.com, Meg is majoring in criminology and criminal justice. Yeah. That paired with Meg’s Donald Sterling-inspired signature is why this SIU Saluki Volleyball poster couldn’t have come out at a worse time in this country.
