MoviePass Is Still Up To The Same Old Nonsense

If you’re at all familiar with The CineBoiz Podcast here on Korked Bats then you know one of our favorite things to discuss is MoviePass. The movie subscription service that allowed you to see any movie at any time for free by paying a low monthly fee. It had a strong start (we all have fond memories of the summer of 2017) and then flamed-out spectacularly.

Luckily for us, it was announced last month that MoviePass would make it return in the form of MoviePass 2.0. A relaunching of the company backed by it’s original founder. None of us was perhaps more excited than our own Kevin Keith. Here is a GIF of him receiving the news that MoviePass would return:

Kevin eagerly joined the waitlist and could not wait to sign himself up today. However, as he saw the countdown timer for beta access hit zero on the MoviePass website, he found that he had been bamboozled:

That’s right. In true MoviePass fashion, the countdown reset and required that everyone re-join the waitlist. Now you’ll have to wait until Monday to find out if you will have access to the beta. Oh, but it didn’t end for Kevin there. Once he submitted his information to re-join the waitlist, he was hit with an error…prompting him to retry several times.

So every attempt to join the waitlist for Kevin due to the error sent him an entirely new email confirming his spot had been saved. MoviePass just cannot seem to help itself. Even in a re-vamped, re-launched, re-branded setting, they’re still shooting themselves in the foot.

Kevin luckily isn’t the only one witness to the insanity. Austin and countless others are in the same boat:

We’ll keep you posted on how this goes. Long Live MoviePass 2.0!
