Robert Loggia went to Mizzou, Scott Bakula is from Kirkwood, MO and Kathy Ireland is my generation's Farrah Fawcett. With Rob Schneider as the hapless PA man + Sinbad as a ringer of sorts (grad students have years of eligibility?) this ragtag crew of misfits score a feel good victory at the end of a 1-9-1 season.

All the Right Moves-
Before Tom Cruise became Jerry Maguire, Craig T. Nelson was always the Coach. And BTW: band chicks will eventually go all the way if they feel sorry enough for you.

Lucas-
A more realistic take on the old "nerd-plays-football" angle: nerd gets concussion, everybody feels horrible. Charlie Sheen also plays the ancient Hollywood archetype: Jock that inconceivably defends nerd. I'm looking at you, Junior Floyd and Dennis Quaid in "Breaking Away".

The Field-Goal Kicking, Garbage-Picking, Philadelphia Phenomenon
Tony Danza plays a garbage man named Tony that saves the Eagles' season in this forgotten Disney epic. This reminds me of an old Disney movie with Don Knotts starring a field-goal kicking mule. I'll say this much: At least they didn't have to name the mule's character "Mule" so he could remember his cues.

A few comments on the KB list:
Everybody's All-American is pretty great; it's got 80s sap overload, and the racial messages are outdated; but Goodman and Quaid are terrific.

The original Longest Yard is pretty awesome for two reasons: Burt. Reynolds.

Friday Night Lights: The book and TV show are better than the movie.

And finally, all I could ever feel about Rudy was, "This is stupid; after his 40 seconds of obscurity, he's going to be a working class nobody again." I would hate my life if I was Rudy Rutteger.

I'll consider netflixing it. :)
