Kansas Practices Winning Celebration, Hopes To Use It One Day

For those of you who have forgotten, the University of Kansas has a football team. For those that have the Jayhawks on your current football schedule, you may have mistaken that week for BYE. Common mistake. For years, Jayhawk basketball fans have often looked for something to keep them busy in the fall, and with the hiring of Charlie Weis as head coach, they hoped football would fill that void.

I’m not going to say it hasn’t, but I’ll type it: “it hasn’t.” The Jayhawks have one win this season, and that came against FCS school South Dakota State in week one. So clearly, they’re not used to winning. Kansas has barely become bowl eligible with their number of wins over the past three seasons, combined (6). Obviously, they have no idea what it’s like to celebrate.

So Head Coach Charlie Weis decided he needed to teach his team how to celebrate. And the video below will show that:

What’s glorious about this video is: 1. The team rushes the field before realizing the kicker missed the kick, and 2. When they finally do rush the field to celebrate, they do it wrong, and get berated by Weis. However, you got to cut them some slack, when you have one of the worst football programs in the country, you usually wait till the season ends to celebrate.

“But who cares about the country’s most popular sport anyway? We’re a basketball school.”
