Korked Bats

Is It Dusty In Here Or Is It Just Pepsi Giving Lifelong Fans Their Stadium Seats To Sit In At Home?

Look 2020 has been a weird year, we get that. It probably hasn’t been weirder for anyone* other than the common fan. The common fan can no longer drown themselves in $18 beers and eat shitty overpriced food. The common fan’s season ticket holder status no longer applies in 2020. The common fan has been forced to ban themselves from arenas and take to the virtual fandom.

Surely, you’ve heard the saying “I’ve got the best seat in the house!” But most likely the person saying that didn’t literally mean his/her own house. That is until now.

Pittsburgh Steeler legend and linebacker, Ryan Shazier helped bring a little bit of Heinz Field (and happiness) to 47-year season ticket holder, Tim Doughtery, and his son, Pat.

The father/son have endured a lot over the last couple years after losing their wife/mother and then Tim had a bout with cancer. Since fans are unable to attend at least the first couple home games, the Steelers and Pepsi teamed up to bring some happiness in a time where we could all use it (emphasis on all). The look on their faces says it all.

I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying!

Excuse me while I go grab my Terrible Towel to wipe these tears away. My little yinzer heart is so full after watching that. What a great story and what an awesome gesture by the Steelers and Pepsi. Pepsi coined it best by saying “Every Game is a Home Game”.

This hit me extra hard in the feels as a new season ticket holder (may or may not have been what people are calling a “quarantine purchase” these days).

I can only hope to be a 47-year season ticket holder like Tim Doughtery. If for anything to meet some former Steelers!

A.D. is a Steelers season ticket holder and remembers when Wiz Khalifa was good. He hails from Pitt(sburgh), and has swam in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
