In Defense Of Nickelback…

I was driving in my car the other day when the song How You Remind Me came on. Ever heard of it? If you’re over the age of 30, there’s not a chance you haven’t. Sorry for the double negative, but while I was driving to the soundtrack of Nickelback, I realized we’ve been double negative towards Nickelback over the years. An immense amount of guilt overtook my body as I rocked out to that banger. It paralyzed me. I realized in that moment that there was a time that we all loved Nickelback. That may be a surprise, but it’s true. The album Silver Side Up was widely popular, it got tons of radio play, and that didn’t happen by everyone hating on them. Hell, Chad Kroeger got a track on the Spiderman soundtrack. Which was a big deal back in the day. And sure, in hindsight, everything I’m saying sounds so dumb, but it’s true. And I know I’m not alone. When you hear How You Remind Me, part of you thinks, “Man, this is a dope song.” So all I ask is you find that small part inside of you, bring it to the surface and let’s stop being douche bags to Nickelback. They did nothing to deserve it. Plus, they’re hella nice, incredibly self-aware, and everything you’d want from a famous rock band. So again, why are they the butt of everyone’s jokes?

These five words in my head scream STOP BEING DICKS TO NICKELBACK.
