Day 1

I’m happy to say that I made it through the weekend, but man was it boring. Besides all the basketball games I played, the teams I signed with, and the Oscars I won, it was pretty uneventful. Oh, I didn’t do any of that?  You sure? Okay, well I have spent about 90% of the past two days watching a ridiculous amount of television. I was able to catch up on all the NFL free agency stuff, watch roughly 10-12 basketball games, and see the worst Academy Awards ever. Let’s take a deeper look into each of these stories…

NFL Free Agency

Over the weekend, we saw some pretty big names that decided to change jerseys next season.  Julius Peppers and Chester Taylor moved to Chicago, Anquan Boldin was traded to Baltimore, and Kyle Vanden Bosch decided to become a member of the Detroit Lions.  And, no, that was not a typo… a pro bowl defensive end signed with the Detroit Lions.  That is like  Dwight Howard deciding he wants to play for the Timberwolves (and I know I can make fun of them because no one even knows a T-Wolves player).

When you look at the KVB situation though, the story gets juicier.  On Thursday night, Jim Schwartz flew down to Nashville to have dinner with KVB. تعليم القمار   Schwartz was the former defensive coordinator for the Titans and is still very good friends with Kyle.  However, there are reports that they decided to skip the classy dinner and went and had some drinks instead.  My guess is that Vanden Bosch got a little too drunk and then woke up to find that he was now a Detroit Lion.  In the words of Mike Tyson: “We all do stupid stuff when we are (messed) up.”

NCAA Basketball

I was planning on having a date with the X-Box this weekend, but my plans were turned a little sour.  Someone broke my roommate’s Madden 2010 game, and it was probably me (Sorry if this is how you find out, Julian).  Well, since I couldn’t finish my franchise, I watched way too much basketball.  And I’m not talking about the UK-Florida or the West Virginia-Villanova games.  There was literally no good TV on this weekend, so I found myself watching East Tennessee play Mercer, Old Dominion versus Virginia Commonwealth, and even caught a little bit of that ole Harvard-Princeton rivalry.  However, if you guys missed the Louisville-Syracuse game, you missed out. لعبت بوكر   A white guy who averages 3.4 points came in and scored 22 points against the #1 team in the nation… in the second half.  I am sorry Orange, but that was just awful.  Looks like Kansas still deserves the #1 overall seed. بوكر عربي

The Oscars

The Academy: Okay, let’s nominate 10 movies for the best Film category.

Me: Seems a little much, but I can deal with it.

The Academy: Good, let’s nominate Avatar and Up in the Air for just about every category.

Me: Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all-time and one of the coolest things I have ever seen, so they deserve it.  And although I wasn’t a big fan of Up in the Air, they had some great acting, so I’ll allow it.

The Academy: Good, now let’s make a whole bunch of jokes about the James Cameron and George Clooney because, c’mon, you know they are gonna win.

Me: You know, Oscar, I like your style.

The Academy: Hold that, we are going to give everything to some woman that no one has heard of that directed a movie that no one has seen.

Me: I freaking hate you.
