Korked Bats

That Funny Sports Blog

Help Us Get A Radio Show!

Hello friends. Best, bestie friends. Hello all you lovely, best friend readers.

We aren’t going to use today to make you guys listen to more crap about Brett Favre. No, we care about you way more than that. SOOO much more than that. No, you guys are our friends, and we don’t make our friends suffer.
Speaking of friendship…
So Austin Huff, the founder, heart and soul, and largest contributor to your favorite sports blog that nobody reads and myself are currently going through the application process to earn our own sports talk radio show on the student-run radio station on Mizzou’s campus, 88.1 KCOU FM.

Austin and I have hopes of someday of doing this sports journalism thing for the big (er, little) bucks. And Kyle just loves being funny. Our first love is the domain you are currently at, korkedbats.blogspot.com. But we’re looking to branch out.
It’s not going to be easy though. There are really only 4 “sports talk radio” slots available, and I’m guesstimating about 50 people (at least) are vying for those four time slots.
That’s where you all, our biggest pals, come in. Austin, Kyle, and I are going to include a link to this website on our application. What we’d like for you all to do is have some comments waiting for the powers that be when they come look at our website.
So allow us to ask this: leave a comment on this post as to why you guys think we deserve a radio show. What sets us apart? What has reading our posts taught you guys about us as sports personalities? How the movie Titanic has impacted our lives even in the sports world? In short, help us tell the people evaluating our application why we are better candidates than the others we are competing with for a time slot.
You might be wondering what’s in it for you. Well, if you need incentive other than the age-old-nice-tickly feeling you get in your stomach when you experience people helping people, we’re also hoping to involve our readers in our show somehow. We may read comments on our show, let you guys pick the story we lead with, etc., so there’s that too. Just trust us… You will reap benefits!
You guys are the best. Thanks for reading!
Our best, bestie friends.

Comedy only comes once in a blue moon. Sports are eternal. When the two are conjoined at the hip as they are here, it makes me want to shed tears of joy. Thank you, Korked Bats, thank you.

Austin and Jared are both the perfect combination of funny, witty commentary and sports knowledge. (Austin is in COMEDY WARS improv comedy troupe after all!) They play off of each other really well and definitely deserve a show!

I'm not the biggest sports fan, but I love the comedy-centered commentary that this blog offers! I'm a huge fan and think that Austin and Jared can only help KCOU listeners! Sign them up! Draft them, or whatever!

Korked Bats as a Radio Show, I can not think of a better combination!!! This blog is an amazing mesh of Sports and Comedy. All the writers have a great knack for writing and making sports absolutely hilarious. Honestly both Austin and Jared could be considered Sportscenter anchors, just not in suits. Also not just in writing they both can bring up subjects, that they discuss on their blogs, in an off the cuff conversation and still have that flare. Not all writers are great broadcasters but Austin and Jared would be tremendous as anchors for a sports radio show!

I dont even know any of the men who write this blog…but I have to say I follow it like the Bible. The way these guys bring sports and humor together is genius. They are the new 'Mike & Mike in the Morning'. It may be easy to have male followers to listen in to a sport show but women, like always, are complicated. I, as a woman, would listen to this show daily! Nothing's better than belly laughing about sports as well as hearing the scores and facts. I give korkedbats two thumps up and would be honored to pass the word along to other St. Louisans!

Every time I visit KB or KB video blog I always end up in both of the following situations ::
    1. laughing out loud. (no really, I do)
    2. sending a KB link to someone else because I know they will find it as amusing as I.

Forget radio, I want a TV spot.
    but… I will take whatever I can get… for now. :)

These guys have a plethera of sports knowlege and an array of wit. I have never met anyone who could make a more successful, not to mention fun, sports radio show. Give them a chance and you will NOT be disappointed. I am only sad that I don't live in CoMO so that I can enjoy the show every day.

KB on the RADIO! There is God! If this happens, I think non-sports fans may tune in every now and then…. because they are just plain funny! If this is really happening, this will be a HUGE HIT!

I have known A-huff since i was in 4th grade. This kid has skills and is very funny. If he gets the radio show I know for a fact that he will do it right and won't disappoint. He also has the unique view from someone who has been a college athlete himself, and you can't get that many places. Just look at the blog and it speaks for himself, I love reading about the lighter side of sports on this blog.

This would be unreal… For Korkedbats to get there own radio show would very entertaining! Yes you have Mike and Mike but they are always way to serious. I think Korkedbats could start a new trend of the entertaining/comedic ways of informing people of today's topics in sports. I really do hope they get this!

Just watched the Steve McNair video… absolutely hilarious!! Just about fell off the couch laughing. Austin deserves to have his own radio show! I've gone to school with him since elementary school, and he has always been the funny kid in class that knew about sports. He can definitely keep people entertained… and I have a feeling the show would be very popular with him as the host!

Korked Bats needs a radio show for these three reasons:

    1. Austin promised me if he ever got a radio show that I would be his right hand man. I can't believe this is close to happening.

    2. Korked Bats is the only blog I actually read. I don't really like to read, so how great would it be to just listen.

    3. Jim Rome needs some competition. Yes, that's how good these guys are. Gotta love me some KB.

"Korked Bats" is not staus quo stuff. It is a quirky, gut wrenching humor that is conceptually well developed and intelliigently delivered. These guys are looking out a different window….and I love the view. It's about time the sports world had a presentation that was not so predictable.

    I love sports…..and I love "Korked Bats"!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read several different blogs in my day, and these guys have to be some the funniest out there. I'm always telling people about KB and sending them the links, and I don't do that for ANY other blog out there. If these guys were on the radio, I would listen religiously. Sports Talk radio has a fever, and the only prescription is a little Korked Bats.

There is no one more funny than Austin Huff :) This is coming from someone who does not laugh at much…and there is not a time when Austin Huff does not make me smile and laugh. I would LOVE if these guys had an opportunity to have a show on the radio. Not only are they knowledgeable about sports, but would be able to deliver it in a new, authentic, and hilarious way that would appeal to all listeners. :) Can't wait to hear the show!!!!

Where do I start…What sets Austin apart is his work ethic. He is constantly looking for original material to entertain his followers. But his work is not only original, it is hilarous. Its refreshing to read a sports perspective from someone who is being their own person, not trying to be the next Jim Rome or Bill Simmons. He loves sports, he loves comedy, and his work ethic is one of a kind. Long story short, his passion for both comedy and sports is very evident in his work.

I've been reading this thing since its conception and they have consistently been posting witty, insightful, and genuinely unique points of view regarding sports news.

Not only is their content great, but they are very good about marketing the blog using every social media outlet I can think of.

Giving these guys a radio show is a no brainer. They are rock stars at Mizzou and would no doubt have a large and loyal listening audience that would grow tremendously in a short period of time.

    PS
I don't know why I haven't thought of this before but if the radio gig doesn't work out you guys NEED to do a podcast. It would be awesome!
