Deion Sanders Announced His Jackson State Coaching Staff And It’s Just The 2001 NFC Pro Bowl Team
Welcome to The Expendables football reboot.
Deion Sanders has announced his coaching staff at Jackson State and it’s about as predictable as you can imagine. This is the Mean Machine of coaching staffs. Only person missing is Nelly as running backs coach. Too busy dancing with “stars” I guess?
But the two headliners here are obvious. I’m sure bringing both Warren Sapp…

…and Terrell Owens…

…will definitely work out well. These hires definitely will not come back to bite you in the ass. It’s not like Deion would know anything about building a team full of big names who never produced anything.

*cough* Deion Sanders *cough* Bruce Smith *cough* Lavar Arrington *cough* Champ Bailey *cough* Sorry, had something in my throat. That team went 8-8, missed the playoffs, and Deion was gone the next year.
But I will say, don’t overlook the addition of Jason Phillips as offensive coordinator! Now I’ll admit, I’m still unsure if this is former NFLer and current Utah State wide receivers coach Jason Phillips or former Mets/Dodgers/Blue Jays catcher and first baseman Jason Phillips. Honestly, with Deion, I wouldn’t put it past him to hire either guy.
Look, good for Jackson State for bringing more recognition to their football program than most FBS schools will ever get. That’s super awesome for their program. It’s just don’t be surprised when we look back at this entrance a year or so from now when Deion steps away from coaching for something like “other projects.”
But until then, in the immortal words of Terrell Owens, “getchya popcorn ready.”

UPDATE: Technically, this update is being written before I even published the blog, but here’s a juicy nugget that only further plays into my take.
Well, there you have it. Just when we thought he was IN, they pull him right back out. I don’t mean to laugh, but yes I do. What’s coming next? T.O. going to back out? Because that wouldn’t be like him either.
Ok, so now in the immortal words of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker, “and heeeeere we go!”
