Boston Red Sox Wonder What Everyone Thinks About Their New Playoff Royals Jerseys

BOSTON — Fresh off their sweep of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2014 American League Divisional Series, the Boston Red Sox were curious of what America thought about their new postseason Royals jerseys.
“We thought we’d bust out a new look for the playoffs,” Red Sox Manager John Farrell said. “Next year will be the 30th anniversary of the Kansas City Royals’ last playoff appearance and World Series title, so we wanted to honor that some how.” The team decided to do so by wearing Royals jerseys throughout their 2014 postseason run. “I hope everyone likes the look,” Farrell added.
Not only did the Red Sox don Royals jerseys during their games, but they also played their home games at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
“I mean, we win the World Series all the time now, so we just wanted to pay homage to those teams and fan bases who never get to experience October baseball,” Farrell continued. “Plus, we really love that Lorde song.”
The Red Sox would love to continue this tradition every year by honoring a new team every October. “Next year might be the Toronto Blue Jays, then the Seattle Mariners, and then the New York Yankees after that,” Red Sox 2nd baseman Dustin Pedroia said. “I can’t remember the last time the Yankees were in the playoffs.”
Red Sox team officials say that if the team wins the American League pennant, they’ll continue to honor the Royals by spilling some barbecue sauce on it.
