A.D.’s Crown Of The Week Brings Some Controversy This Week

For the first time in the history of A.D.’s Crown of the Week (a long 9 weeks for those keeping track at home), a player known as the Chef Dalvin Cook could potentially have taken home (*Drake voice*) back-2-back Crowns of the Week. Despite the Cookie Monster absolutely blasting off again this week for 250+ scrimmage yards and 2 tuddy’s, we at A.D.’s Crown Givers, LLC are not in the business of giving repeat crowns – regardless if they deserved it or not. Sorry, Dalvin, rules are rules.

This week marked the return of everyone’s favorite fantasy player: Christian McCaffrey, AKA Run CMC. After missing the last 6 weeks with a high ankle sprain, CMC returned to the gridiron healthy and ready to roll.

He may not have been respected as he should have been coming out of Stanford. Not only was he not the first RB drafted in 2017 (sorry, Leonard Fournette) but the folks at the combine spelled his name wrong!!!?????

The people who made these shirts at the combine had one job. Well, many jobs, but spell checking seems like an important job.

But he has certainly made a name for himself in today’s NFL. CMC was most likely the number 1 draft pick in your fantasy league this year.

Normally, when a player returns from a long absence like that, teams will try to ease a player back into game speed. That is exactly the opposite of what the Panthers did with their stud bull running back. They rushed CMC 18 times against a tough Chiefs defense where he went for 69 (NIIIIIICCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEE ????) yards and a tuddy, but where he becomes a super mega awesome threat – is catching passes. CMC added 10 (yes, TEN) catches for 82 yards and another tuddy. Those numbers certainly don’t seem like someone who was coming off an injury.

CMC legitimately walked into the end zone after scoring in the 1st quarter. But the best part about this play? A Panthers player (or perhaps Sir Purr himself) screaming “WELCOME BACK!” The type of play that can’t help but put a smile on your face (yes, for Christian, but especially for a fantasy owner who has waited 6 long weeks for these types of performances.)

Alas, just as he’s looking fully healthy again and ready to dominate the 2nd half of the season. Run CMC suffered another setback towards the end of the game against a hard fought battle against the Chiefs. Hopefully it won’t keep him out for long because, in my opinion, CMC is the most exciting player to watch in the NFL (again… sorry, Dalvin, you’re a close 2nd).
