The 20 Best Cleveland Browns Quarterbacks

20 Best Cleveland Browns Quarterbacks

Since Cleveland was awarded the Browns again in 1999, they have had some harsh luck at the quarterback position. However, let’s not dwell on the bad. Let’s recognize the good. That’s why we’ve ranked the 20 BEST Cleveland Browns quarterbacks since 1999.

20. Thaddeus Lewis (0-1)

Sorry, but someone had to be last, Thaddeus.

19. Spergon Wynn (0-1)

Wynn did anything but that.

Luke McCown Browns18. Luke McCown (0-4)

Luke McCown has more w’s in name than he did with his time as a Browns QB.

17. Ty Detmer (0-2)

They say a tie is “like kissing your sister,” and starting a quarterback named Ty is “like losing to your sister… twice.”

Vince Young Browns16. Vince Young (0-0)

Vince Young never really made it out of OTA’s with the Cleveland Browns, but the few hand offs and passes he had in seven-on-seven drills were good enough to land him at #16 on this list.

15. Trent Dilfer (4-7)

He actually won a Super Bowl! But unfortunately, it was with the old Cleveland Browns franchise that moved to Baltimore. And then went 4-7 with the actual Browns later on his career.

Colt McCoy14. Colt McCoy (6-15)

Unfortunately, Colt’s ears are still ringing from that hit he took from James Harrison.

13. Charlie Frye (6-13)

The only quarterback on this list with a French last name.

12. Jake Delhomme (2-2)

In his time with the Browns, Jake Delhomme actually posted a .500 record.

11. Ken Dorsey (0-3)

In his time with the Browns, Ken Dorsey actually posted a record 500 interceptions.

Jeff Garcia Celebrate10. Jeff Garcia (3-7)

To this day, Jeff Garcia remains the only quarterback in NFL history who jumped into the stands for a touchdown celebration and never returned.

9. Sam Bradford (18-30-1, 0-0 as a Browns QB)

He’s technically never been a Cleveland Browns quarterback, but he would make a great one. Had a fantastic college career, but now, in the pros, he just gets sacked a lot.

8. Brady Quinn (3-9)

At Notre Dame, Brady helped revitalize Touchdown Jesus. In Cleveland, he helped revitalize the lesser known Interception And Return It For A Touchdown Jesus.

NFL: Preseason-St. Louis Rams at Cleveland Browns7. Brandon Weeden (5-15)

If this list ranked the oldest Cleveland Browns quarterbacks in history, Brandon Weeden would rank #2, just behind old Theodore Arthur Fredrickson III, who played with the Browns in 1891.

6. Theodore Arthur Fredrickson III (2-18)

Theodore Arthur Fredrickson III was the first quarterback in Browns history. In fact, he played way back in the day when it was still socially acceptable to name a team the Browns. Unfortunately, this was an era before helmets were invented, and Theodore died on the field due to concussions. The commissioner of the league back then, Mr. Winston Goodell, said it was “the league’s biggest loss” since Packers defensive end Humphrey Little died of typhoid fever while moving his family and oxen via conestoga wagon to San Francisco after being traded. Goodell also was slightly relieved that Fredrickson passed away before retiring, as he was “no longer able to sue the league.”

Here is a picture of Theodore and a few of his teammates. Theodore is the dog.
5. Derek Anderson (16-18)

Derek Anderson has the second most wins in Browns history with 16. Tom Brady once won 18 games in a single season.

4. Tim Couch (22-37)

Now if this was a ranking of Cleveland Browns Quarterbacks Whose Names Double As A Piece of Furniture, Tim Couch would probably be number 1. Unfortunately, for Tim’s sake, it’s just a ranking on Cleveland Browns quarterbacks.

3. An Old Shoe (0-0)

Technically, the Browns never started an old shoe (probably a worn-in Sketchers sneaker) at quarterback. (and just one, not even the complete pair) However, if they did, it would be the 3rd best QB in franchise history.

Manziel Subliminal Message

2. Brian Hoyer (3-0)

Brian Hoyer is the only undefeated quarterback in Cleveland Browns history. So the team drafted another quarterback in the first round, because that is completely unacceptable.

1. Johnny Manziel (0-0)

Yes, he hasn’t even started a game yet. Yes, he’s technically a 2nd string quarterback right now. But let’s be honest, usually being a Browns quarterback would get you kicked out of a really cool pool party in Las Vegas. So, Johnny Football has that going for him.
